What you need to bring for the Distress Ink Class

Well after doing alot of research on the two inks I have decided that they each need a class of their own! So this week will be DISTRESS INKS and next fortnight will be ALCOHOL INKS ... make sure you are booked in!

If you have any of these things please bring them along, if not my personal supply and the store supply will also be available for use.

Acetate Class

I have had so much fun playing around with Acetate over the last couple of weeks! These are things we covered in class to refer back to if you need to, also so I don't have to make you take notes hehehe

WHAT IS ACETATE?
A transparent or translucent plastic sheet. Also known as transparency. You can buy acetate or collect it free. Alot of scrapbooking packaging contains acetate so don't throw that packaging away! You can also buy acetate embelishments, overlays etc which are ready to place on your projects. You can also purchase computer printable transparencies. Some is clear, some is coloured.

Onto the fun stuff!! ....

STAMPING >>>
To stamp on acetate you need Stazon Ink. This is the only ink I know of that will dry on the acetate. You can stamp any image onto your acetate and cut it out to create an embelishment.
Here are a few examples ...

This was stamped with black Stazon ink, cut out and attached to the photo with vellum tape.

Another medium you can use to stamp on acetate is paint. I used Kasier colour Acrylic paint. I Dabbed the paint on the stamp with a sponge and after it had dried cut around the shape and attached sequins with craft glue. I also used craft glue to attach the flourish to the cardstock.

This Butterfly was stamped with black Stazon then coloured with pens. I then cut it out and heated the wings with a heat gun until they curled a bit. The butterfly was attached with double sided tape.

CUTTLEBUG >>>
The cuttlebug can be used to cut and emboss on acetate to make embelishments.
Here are some examples ...

To make this I used an embossing folder all the way across the acetate. I then gently sanded the embossed images and rubbed versa colour ink over the sanded parts. I them attached the acetate to black cardstock using pink brads as the flower centres and then attached the cardstock to the LO with double sided tape.

The word 'Fireworks' was cut using the cuttlebug alpha 'You're not the Boss of Me' and then painted with Kasier colour acrylic paint. I attached the letters to the cardstock with craft glue.

Coloured acetate is fun to use with the cuttlebug cutting dies! Attached with craft glue.

RUB-ONS >>>
If you don't have any Stazon Ink or paint the next best thing to use on acetate are rub-ons. You can find out about Rub-ons HERE

Here are some ideas ....

Using a rub-on journalling spot I made my own unique journalling spot! Just a little tip .. make sure you test your journalling pen on some scrap acetate first so you make sure it is 'acetate friendly' and will dry. I attached the acetate to my LO with little brads placed in the flowers centres.

Some acetate, rub-ons, glitter and glue make for an awesome embelishment! Check out the instructions for this idea HERE

Just cutting around your rub-ons and using on your LO is perfectly fine! It makes it possible to use rub-ons in a 3D way.

OTHER >>>
Use acetate with any medium to create unique embelishments.
Here are a couple of ideas ...

Using acetate with other mediums makes for great embelishments. Here I have cut out flower shapes and used both paper and embroidery thread to jazz them up.

I have talked about using sketches a bit during classes so I thought I'd give some examples of what I have been talking about!
A Sketch is an outline of a Scrapbooking Layout. They look like this ...

Sketches are used to give you ideas of how to place everything on your Layout. They can be copied excactly or altered to your liking. Here are a couple of examples of sketches and the Layouts I have made by using them .....

Last nights class we discussed stamps. Clear and Block Mounted Stamps.

CLEAR STAMPS >>>>>

Clear stamps are very easy to use and my personal favourites! The clear stamps are attached to special acrylic blocks or Stamp Presses which are sold for this purpose and these are ideal as they are completely clear and are found in a variety of shapes and sizes. Check out the range of Clear Stamps the store has, Kaiser Craft CLEAR STAMPS and Kaiser Craft MINI STAMPS. Other brands are also available instore

To use, the stamps are simply removed from the protective backing and attached to the block or press. The stamps are then dabbed with ink and used as normal. The stamps can be combined or arranged on the block or press as required, this gives a wide range of design opportunities.
The main advantages of clear stamps are that the clear stamps and clear stamping block mean it is easy to accurately place stamps on your paper. They are also easy to store and don't take up as much space as Block Mounted stamps.

BLOCK MOUNTED STAMPS >>>>>

These are Rubber stamps mounted to a block, usually wood. These stamps come in various sizes and patterns.

INK >>>>>

To stamp you need ink! There are many different kinds, colours, varieties and flavours!! Check out what the store has available with STAZON INK, DISTRESS INKS , ALCOHOL INKS and VERSA COLOUR INK

To keep your stamps working at their best make sure you clean them properly after use. I use baby wipes to clean the ink off my stamps but many stamp cleaning products are available through the store.

Here are some ideas of how to use your stamps on your scrapbook layouts .....

Stamp an image onto cardstock, cut around image, using foam tape attach to page as an embelishment.

Stamp your image directly onto your layout.

Stamp your image directly onto your photographs.

Using alpha stamps create a title.

Using Journalling stamps to record stories, dates and information about your photos.
